Our story starts
with understanding.
Baraka began in 2018 as a grassroots initiative led by people with lived experience of migration. Our founders understood the isolation, digital exclusion and barriers to support that migrants, refugees and families can face.
They created a place to connect, share experiences and build confidence. The name Baraka comes from the Arabic word for “blessing” or “divine grace” — a reflection of the unique gifts each person brings.
On 23 January 2023, Baraka became a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered with OSCR as SC052268.
